I believe there’s a lot of room for physical objects to become a part of Nouns culture. I think about how often I see physical noggles being used in photoshoots at activations, or how often my good friend Derek G Taylor uses his noggle earring to talk about Nouns and explain it to others. This ring couple play a similar role!

That being said, I have concerns about the feasibility and risk level of this proposal in its current form. 1,500 units is a lot of rings, and as Bigshot Kim said in his vote “there is no evidence for demand for any physical goods.” Investing in such a large inventory upfront is risky without more certainty around distribution.

That being said, I’m still voting yes because I think these rings should exist. If this proposal fails to pass, my recommendation would be to rework this into a simpler proposal focused solely on producing a small batch of ~300 promotional rings to be used for activations and to test reception. Limiting the upfront investment and complexity would allow the proposers to validate the concept before attempting a larger rollout and likely go a long way in addressing the questions and concerns from no voters.

I went back and forth on this one. I initially gave feedback to Cheffo and Michael during several Nouncil meetings where they were iterating, and that feedback was that nouns for better or worse has a poor track record so far of finding buyers for physical products, no matter how good they are. A recent example would be DefiJesus who made the best nouns shirt you could imagine and still had trouble rallying a 50 unit preorder. The community is just really small and we need to be realistic about that.

However, as Noun 40 once said in a vwr “you have to vote on the prop we have, not the one we wanted” and I do think that’s the case here. The design of the ring itself is really great and I personally want to buy one, and obviously so do many other voters. I do think 1500 units will be very difficult, if not impossible to move, no fault of the proposer, but I would just ask Michael to be creative with the extra units when that inevitably is the case. Host an awards gala at the end of the year and give them out to the best Nouns builders of the year. Make a frame where people have to do a bunch of nounish quests to earn a ring. Get creative. Proliferate. Don’t let them rust on a shelf, because they are really cool and deserve to be on people’s fingers or shelves.

I also don’t agree with the profit sharing back to Nouncil, and would vote in Nouncil to send it back if it happens. Again, would rather you find something novel and interesting to do with those extra funds.

Also, my delegate Valko is in full support of this proposal and that helped tip me over the edge to vote FOR despite the above reservations. GL!

As an enthusiast of IRL events, it's no surprise I'm also a big fan of physical goods. I strongly believe they play an important role in making the brand tangible, and I'm sure there's still much to explore in this field. I trust the team, and I'm confident they'll deliver high-quality materials here!

Hiding team members who have received (big) funding before and have soft rugged is not a great look.

There are too many red flags throughout the entire concept, and witnessing the iteration process and feedback consideration, I'm voting against.

mainly because of

• playing the numbers games to sell without an actual business case or market insights is "Luftschlösser bauen"
• Weird revenue shares
• disconnected volume planning
• conceptually not enticing or desirable; it's not clear "where" this product belongs aka who it is for. "Everyone who loves Nouns" is the wrong answer.
• GTM is overloaded, inconsistent and not cohesive
• hazy team setup / constellation

The current voting results indicate that it's unlikely that this proposal will not pass. If it doesn't, I'd encourage Crypto Jeweler to resubmit a proposal for a pilot + marketing misc which allows you to pilot and iterate quick – just you to do what you do best and budget to spend on marketing and ops support where needed.

+1 40 and MikeG. Design feels generic, except maybe for the red 'L' - but also not sure its a great tweak. Highly subjective but imo, physicals should look eye-catching and unique, or dare I say, weird.

I'm not against nounish physical items, but it's hard to gauge demand, and in regards to our history, we kinda have to.

i would go even further to say that i feel like this prop doesn't acknowledge or understand the history the dao has with luxury physical products like this. the nouns watch prop (https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/480) went through three iterations b/c prior versions were something like what this prop is suggesting where the dao just pays for the production of a thing it has no idea if would sell.

also this mint revenue share back further indicates to me that the proposers don't quite understand our priorities. like why do we want the eth we paid out back? why not use it to subsidize the cost of the ring to be lower (which is our usual preference)? also why is nouncil out of the blue getting 25% of the mint revenue?

also cheffo is presented as the proposal architect & coordinator (kind of like an arms length liason to the dao) but then on the team section of cryptojeweler's website (https://www.cryptojeweler.io/) cheffo is on the team section as president/coo of cryptojeweler? autobushi is CMO? why is that not mentioned in the prop? if cheffo is president/coo of cryptojeweler then this is as much cheffo's prop as it is michael ray's?

this just all feels off to me

i have voted against at nouncil but at this point i think nog ring has probably become a meme worth exploring, agree the red ⌐ should go if the ring does happen. Also agree also that presale is better.

Hello, thank you for the proposal. As I mentioned in Nouncil pre-proposal, I think physical items like this should have demand estimated via pre-orders before the dao commits to a large output of physical items. Historically (i think in almost every case) we've seen merch sit long term and never sell out fully.. I really like defijesus approach to selling his recent tshirts (at least for an initial gauge of interest).

I also am not sure why Nouncil would get a revenue split, tbh. And I'm a Nouncil maxi <3

This was a close vote in Nouncil. The proposal was presented as a sponsorship candidate and during a few of the weekly calls where the proposers were able to make their case. People like the design, the price point and the idea of the ring, but there were concerns around the lack of public interest shown in physical goods and the need for a social campaign to gauge interest and generate preorders. Some members also simply wouldn't wear the ring themselves. The final vote was in favour of the proposal.

I dont have conviction here but if other voters (who better understands jewelry) are excited about this prop i also dont want to stand in its way.

This prop has come a long way through iterations and I appreciate the passion.

I used to wear more jewellery than I do now, but I would wear this for sure. I would also stock up on a bunch to give away when I'm out and about... another sick product to add to the arsenal of nounish gifts I give people.

I feel like all the details might be a bit much and I would also support a prop that was just a simple - make x amount of stainless rings for $x. But I understand the desire to expand on that.

Either way, good luck, I hope I get to wear these.

Will start by saying - not the target demographic.

See 0 demand for higher priced item (gold, premier gold etc). Primarily seeing this first hand as different types of nouns IRL goods have struggled to sell out even at lower price points.

Having said that, looks like rest of the voters are excited so will be abstaining.
