During the Lunouns proposal discussion, Nouncil expressed several concerns:

• Effectiveness of the magnetized pieces remains in doubt due to similar issues encountered in past products.
• The design needs additional revisions to better capture the nounish aesthetic.
• A significant initial outlay of 90,000 USDC is required for research, development, and production before any sales can occur.
• While the idea of NFC-enabled glasses is intriguing, it was considered potentially unnecessary.

The consensus of the Nouncil is currently against moving forward with the proposal at this time.

there’s probably a route to success here for this proposal with some modifications. if the proposers have the resources, i’d offer that they begin marketing and do pre-orders (maybe via a refundable deposit?) to gauge interest, and modify the proposal to not include the 30% back to the DAO. look towards the NounsWatch v3 proposal as a model"*

Thanks for this prop! Hoping to see an iteration on the basic concept which i still find worth pursuing.

Physical merchandise, especially high end physical merchandise, has a more significant bar to clear given the fact that it’s been pretty well-trodden ground already. I unfortunately don’t see this specific instance as greatly expanding awareness of Nouns and public goods.

I love a few things here:

• the clip-on aspect and ability to add different styles
• the pixel vibe
• custom lenses (prescription)
• the passion
  However, I don’t really vibe with the shape as is and I personally wouldn’t wear them over my precious plastic noggles by Mari, which I wear as my day to day sunglasses (yes, really).
  The ideal daily drivers for me would be very similar to precious plastic, with some slight tweaks for comfort, and ability to use prescription lenses, but would look the same as they do now.

This design at hand doesn’t represent nouns imo and wouldn’t trigger people to recognise “oh those square glasses” which is a huge part of my interactions when wearing them.

I do hope to see a revised proposal with a more aligned design implementing the cool aspects of this proposal.

I think you're onto something. But the volumes and GTM require more focus and thought. Product doesn't sell just by launching it, but I do believe with an event focused seeding approach paired with sequential (+ iterative) pre-order mechanics, this could get some positive tractions over the course of 6-12months"*

Vote of encouragement because it seems very unlikely to pass at this point, but I still want to acknowledge the quality of the proposal and hopefully inspire the team to iterate towards a 'yes'.

Agree with the previous comments regarding the GTM strategy and the fact that these are not so obviously 'nounish' in their design.

BUT

Let's differentiate between 'noggles' and 'nounish' glasses. Noggles have large, square, bicolored lenses, etc. They are not ergonomic and are quite 'clownish'. They are loud and great for selfies, podcasts, and conferences, which is, tbh, their function so far. It's a fun oneliner.

There is another unexplored approach where glasses have a classic/timeless look, and the 'nounishness' doesn't have to be seen from a mile away; it's in the details. Maybe something as simple as slightly bicolored lenses and the noggles logo on the temple, like you currently have, could be enough.

Random thought: We are all aware of the trend where people attach some icons to their Crocs. It's like the 2020s' non-edgy equivalent of the '80s leather jacket with pins. Still, I find it cool to be able to customize a classic item with tribal signs, and the magnetic clip-on could be pushed in this direction. Maybe you could slap on some Basepaint, some Pepes, some specific noun—Cone, Shark, or Pickle today?—on top of your classic nouns stamped frames. There is something 'nounish' related to self-expression here.

Lots of feedback already reflects my feelings.
My gut reaction was similar to drewcoffman.eth's.

But interesting food for thought for both nouners and builders to consider generally from both pikasheepy.eth and lilfrog.eth (somewhat conflicting but also maybe complimentry) – nounish visual branding without a nounish-designed product per se? Perhaps, but as long as it then perpetates our brand via values and meaning and/or checks the "only Nouns can fund this" box.

Now I am just thinking out loud in realtime as a vwr... oh well. I'm sorry. Or you're welcome. Whichever serves your experience.

Hey, LuNouns team! Thanks for the proposal. First off, I really admire the enthusiasm and dedication you've put into this project. It's evolved from a Farcaster cast to a structured onchain proposal, with you joining the community, spreading the idea, and gathering feedback. It's truly a great example for other builders. However, I'm voting against it mainly because:

❌ I don’t think I’d use it in its current form and design, and also I don’t think it’s “nounish” enough (and this is something hard to explain but you’ll eventually feel it).

But I’d support it if:

✅ It was designed in a completely different way. The concept is pretty great, and as Supryio mentioned, this proposal is interesting because it tries to create Noggles for everyday use.

I just don’t think it’s there yet, but I do encourage you to rework the design and come back. I feel I should have given more feedback when you were working on the prototypes, so definitely count on me this time to help build V3.

Agree with reasons shared with regard to the product design not serving “Nouns”.

Wondering if the approach to leveraging the Nouns brand in this particular idea would be more suitable in product packaging, positioning, and marketing story versus the product design itself.

I don't think Noggles in a strict 1-to-1 translation work as an ergonomic everyday use eyewear (Sharp edges, high contrast dual tint glasses etc). Which is why this proposal is interesting in spirit.

However, as others pointed out this product design deviates too far away from it's nounish characteristic and becomes just a nouns branded eyewear. Which i don't think is the intent.

I hope proposers will iterate on the product design and come back!

I love the idea, but these don't feel immediately recognizable to me as Noggles, probably for the reasons that drew pointed out.

I'd like to see a re-design, but keep in mind it simply may not be possible to achieve an everyday wearable Noggles design, and that's okay.

If we as a community are choosing to rally around noggles as the primary mark of Nouns, then every creative project must use the noggles as a creative constraint for what they’re building.

To me, that means a few things: The noggles are ‘pixelated’ by the nature of being square, they’re slightly oversized, they’re red, and they have an almost cartoonish quality to them. When designing something noggle-adjacent, it’s fine to break SOME of the rules, but not ALL of the rules. If the design doesn’t read as ‘noggles’, then they are, unfortunately, not nounish.

These glasses look very nice, but beyond being red, they do not fit the above constraint. As such, labeling them as "Nouns Eyewear" feels off since they don't embody the key visual elements that make noggles instantly recognizable.

Beyond this, as I mentioned in Prop 530 for the Noggle Ring, at this stage in our community's development, the demand for physical merchandise remains uncertain. Investing in an inventory of glasses priced at $120 is a significant financial commitment, especially without a proven distribution plan.

I encourage the team to take these insights to heart and continue exploring ways to bring noggles to life through eyewear designs.

Appreciate the grant size being reduced since the candidate but still don't feel like we are there. While I acknowledge no one wants to wear Noggles IRL everyday the design of these feel to far away to be identifiable as Nouns. It feels like these could be funded by any pixel art project and are not unique to Nouns.

The designs presented are cool but stray too far from noggle-aesthetic to be recognizably from Nouns DAO.

it still appears to be too unfocused and not intentionally seeding the product where the people are who you want to sell it to.

and, the volumes are still too high. I understand that 600 is the MOQ, but there is always a pre-stage to MOQs which runs unter extended prototyping, which I'd recommend to lean into until you see significant uplift in demand - which is the signal to open pre-sale.

considering the above, I don't even think the requested budget is too high - a little bit maybe, but where it's spent doesn't make sense for this type of product.

Here's a very highlevel gtm approach I'd consider which is generally applicable for all physical consumer goods that the DAO funds. You want to focus on:

• prototyping and building in public (URL)
• go to industry events to sell and hand out products (IRL)
• use those events as your content production studio and use that content for your kickstarter / presale campaign (IRL>URL)

This is also it's own vicious cycle for physical products x ecom to build demand.

Cool concept, love the more punk pixel vibes. However, I just don't think this is nounish to support/fund.

Beautiful prop and the team seems great, but I simply don't love the glasses. Don't want to stand in the props way should others be excited to order these and think they will do well

love the detail and effort put into the prop, but physical products are tough to begin with and I dont see these being unique or appealing enough that people would buy them for $120, let alone actually wear them. I think you might be on to something with the concept but this iteration doesn't do it for me
