fully in support. also there are a few vwrs that point to the permissioned aspect here but just want to highlight that registering your client (getting a client ID) and starting to earn eth towards your client ID is permissionless. you need to get your client ID approved in order to claim the rewards but i think it's a good balance of making it permissionless as possible to let ppl start earning without a full majority vote but still having a decent deterrent for abuse. it's not any more permissioned than the previous paradigm which is you need to get all prefunding to do the work or do all the work and hope for a retro with an uncertain amount both still gated by majority voting.

Really excited about client incentives. Agree with Drew, this helps solve the incentive alignment issue, which has caused other clients to become neglected.

Ideally, after potential initial funding, clients should never need to return to the DAO, as they can sustain themselves perpetually through client incentives.

Noticed a few proposals asking for funding for auction clients. Hopefully we can adopt a similar approach to what was done for the Farcaster clients: kickstart multiple teams to de-risk the build and let the best client(s) win.

NounSwap.wtf — A tool designed to facilitate swap props for treasury Nouns. It also features a Nouns Farcaster auction frame. Future plans include transforming it into a comprehensive Nouns hub with a full auction client and more.

Hmm. Wishing this could be automated/permissionless, but I understand the need to reduce abuse of the system.
This could be an awesome (and fulfilling) gateway into nounish sites/apps who'll add client incentive approvals to their proposals.

As I'm currently voting on the camp (WOOOO) and exploring other apps in the DAO, nounfe & I would be super happy to see new platforms thrive - and ultimately challenge what makes interacting with the DAO fun/engaging.

One of my biggest longstanding nitpicks of the Nouns ecosystem is the way that funded frontends and projects disappear over time.

Too often, promising sites and apps that were initially funded by the treasury become defunct or inactive once that initial funding runs dry. 

The client incentives model helps address this in a thoughtful way by directly rewarding and incentivizing frontend operators for the value and activity they generate. I personally use Camp every day and will be voting on this proposal through their interface. I love the fact that these incentives should, in theory, enable clients to remain viable and active as long as it continues to deliver value.

Critics argued that permissioning the protocol could discourage competition and innovation, as it may favor established clients and go against the ethos of a community-owned brand.
