Six months ago, Nouns Shelter was born with the passing of Prop 462, receiving robust support with 74 votes in favor and fostering a space where we could actualize our vision of helping save stray animals.

What have we aready done in the past 6 months?
Mini Shelter Movement: We have built over 300 Mini Shelters, providing refuge for approximately 600 cats at the first month across Shanghai, Beijing, and Changsha. These Mini Shelters are built with recycled PVC plastic and are produced using a traditional method called mortise and tenon structure. Volunteers maintain all the Mini Shelters daily, and each one is equipped with 10kg of cat food when volunteers receive it. After 3 months of usage, our Mini Shelters are still in perfect condition and have reached a very satisfactory level. If not damaged or stolen, they can be used permanently and help more and more strays.
Animal Rescue Support: We donated 2,000 kg of food to a rescue center, ensuring sustenance for over 200 stray dogs throughout the winter in partnered locations.
NFT Editions: We started to explore web3 technology during ETHDenver and created an NFT mint for Mini Shelter Movement Changsha. When someone minted our NFT, we created a custom mini shelter named after them and shared videos and pictures of the cats using the shelter through their wallet.
TNVR Program: TNVR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-return) is the most effective and humane way of stabilizing and decreasing stray cat /dog populations. Our TNVR program has neutered and spayed 100 stray animals in Beijing, including cats living in our Mini Shelters.
Strategic Partners: We have established partnerships with the largest stray animal rescue organizations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Changsha, extending the influence of Nouns Shelter in major cities through Nouns Shelter campaigns.
Community Engagement: Our Mini Shelter Movement events rally 250 volunteers who actively maintain the mini shelters and engage in evaluating and discussing Nouns' shelter activities within the community.
Social Media Outreach: We've established various social media platforms both locally in China（Red & Weibo）and internationally（Twitter & Instagram) to share our journey and connect with supporters.
International Collaboration: We engage in active communication with international animal welfare organizations in the Philippines and Vietnam, to gain insights into the current situation of stray animals in different countries and to explore potential avenues for future cooperation. Notably, our Mini Shelter Movement received positive feedback from Dr. Peter Li, Associate Professor of East Asian Politics, University of Houston-Downtown, China Policy Specialist at Humane Society International. Dr. Li expressed interest in our initiative and held a productive phone call to delve into our organization's background and discuss potential collaborative opportunities in the future.

Now we're back and ready to take action! With our passion and plans, we want to inform all Nouners that we are committed to continuing the operation of the Nouns Shelter and are in the process of officially registering it as a non-profit organization.
We have developed a comprehensive set of plans for Nouns Shelter:
Over the next 12 months, the Nouns Shelter project will enter its second stage. During this phase, we will broaden our reach to markets beyond China, targeting Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and other global regions. Our goal is to engage local communities and encourage them to join the Nouns DAO community through the Nouns Shelter initiative.
Through the first round of project execution, we are confident that by carrying out independent projects for the public good, the use of funds is incredibly reasonable and transparent. This is the core and authentic purpose of our future at Nouns Shelter. We aspire that through each animal welfare project, the Nouns brand will gain more visibility among the public.
The Mini Shelter Movement aims to offer protection and shelter to street cats, ensuring their survival in harsh weather. By building relationships with the local animal welfare organizations in each city, we will host Mini Shelter Volunteer events in more than 5 cities and multiple countries outside of China at this stage. One of our current preference is Ukraine, if any Nouners have great ideas please contact and build with us.
During the previous stage, the Mini Shelter Movement received outstanding feedback and evaluations. When we organized offline volunteer activities, participants came together to understand the Nouns and the reasons behind their involvement in such initiatives. Since our mini shelters are permanent installations, they provide a valuable long-term opportunity to showcase the Nouns brand continuously.
Spring and summer are the best times to spay or neuter stray animals. Therefore, we will recruit volunteers to spay/neuter the animals in our mini shelters with each project campaign targeting 100 animals. Along the way, we will build relationships with local pet hospitals to secure cost effective treatment. We plan to conduct at least 4 TNVR campaigns in China and 6 in Southeast Asia.
After discussions with Nouns community members, we all recognized that the TNVR program offers the best opportunity to introduce the Nouns brand to the Southeast Asian market. Consequently, we decided to focus the TNVR efforts on Southeast Asian countries. We will collaborate with local volunteers and document the process through videos and photos for content production.
Over the past six months, we've been contemplating how to raise animal awareness and encourage action through engaging, easily shareable content on the internet. Our inspiration came from the success of Meet Quack and conversations with Supriyo. Because Wooyee's content is original to our team, we can initially experiment with minimal funding before scaling up our investment.
We will develop the Nouns Shelter platform as our primary website, serving not just as a display of our initiatives but also as a tool to expand our reach and impact.The website is crucial for achieving sustainable operations and will be our most important source of revenue in the future.
Establish the Wooyee Fund to accept donations from website users, which will be used for our future animal welfare projects. All expenditures for these projects will be disclosed online with detailed cost breakdowns. We will ensure both the security and transparency of the entire donation process.
As an onchain non-profit organization, we are committed to onboarding and are building so that donors can choose to donate using either fiat or cryptocurrencies. After experimenting with selling NFTs in the first stage, we found that the operating and publicity costs were too high. As a non-profit charity organization, we must prioritize our resources and energy on practical actions to help animals. Therefore, we decided to use our NFTs as donation certificates. These NFTs, symbolizing contributions, will vary based on the donation amount. Our innovative approach combines Web3 technology with philanthropy, and we are confident it will enable sustainable profitability for Nouns Shelter in the future.

Coral Ding: Partnership Development & Event Operation
Coral has over 7 years of experience in large-scale event planning and management. Since 2016, she has volunteered at an animal welfare organization in Shanghai, China, worked with other volunteers to rescue abandoned and sick stray cats and organized animal adoption events with local companies. Following the concept of "adopt instead of buying", she hopes that more stray animals will find forever homes.
Sharon Liu: Product Design & Content Creation
Sharon has a diverse professional background, including roles as a director and product operation manager in China. She has volunteered with an animal protection organization for years. Sharon is about to graduate with a master's diploma in Design and Development from University College Cork, Ireland. She has extensive experience in the design, development, and operation of digital products, particularly in emerging industries, and is a specialist in content production and strategy.

Host Mini Shelter Movement events in 7 cities include at least 2 cities outside of China:

Nouns Shelter aims to achieve self-sufficiency after the second stage, our sustainable income strategy includes the following components:
We are working with legal advisors to register our NGO in the United States as a 501c organization. This will allow us to collaborate with more companies and accept commercial donations. Upon completing the registration, which takes at least 12 months in general, we will actively pursue partnerships and donations from commercial entities, enhancing our ability to support our mission and expand our global impact.
Over an 12 month period, we will consistently post original content and engage with users on Chinese social media platforms such as Red and Douyin, as well as international platforms like X and Instagram, to build a substantial follower base and monetize our IP. Since we have several accounts with large fan bases in China that can be cooperated with, we aim to achieve commercial profitability first on Chinese social media through merchandise sales, live streaming, and advertising partnerships. For international social media, our goal is to secure advertising collaborations and explore various income models within 12 months.
