Nouncil has decided against this proposal, with 5 votes for, 26 against, and 3 abstentions. Concerns were raised about the clarity and scope of the proposal, particularly regarding the creation of a book and the high budget request. Voters felt the proposal was confusing and that the different aspects, such as the book and website, might be better handled as separate, more focused initiatives. There was appreciation for the artistic contributions, but ultimately, the proposal did not gain sufficient support due to concerns about its execution and impact.

I can appreciate the artistic contributions you've added to the space and personally like your work but $158,000 for a 200 count book that for the most part would only have people within our community wanting to collect seems a bit too much and another acceleration of the DAO being depleted. The idea in itself of attempting to give Nouns a label of fine art from another pixel/digital art project we may believe but outside of Nouns 1.who else would 2. if they did how much impact would 200 books make and 3. this would also make the dozens of other Nounish projects and 100's of thousands of other Nounish art all fine art as well?"

No clear ROI on the investment. Would suggest a Proof of Concept (PoC) run by the team before requesting funding and showing the operation expenses of the PoC. So we can make an informative decision.

This is a very high price for an uncertain outcome. Would support something if it started smaller

thank you for the prop facu! appreciate your artwork with nouns over the years and really you'd be one of the few ppl to really be in the position to do something like this (celebrate nouns pixel art for the art that it is). however i feel similarly with krel that in the current treasury environment it might be best to aim for something more smaller scale and iterative.

Echo some of the other concerns here. I like the idea of the book and exploration overall though.

I like the vision and especially the hardcover book to have in the sitting room, but the current form doesn't fully convince me.

Interesting idea and I appreciate the planned approach, though echoing what some others have said, personally I'd be more keen on starting with a more streamlined version of this proposal and then working out from there. E.g. perhaps just the website as a deliverable to begin with.

Appreciate the openness and intentions of this prop, but $150K+ w/ unclear, measurable goals is tough for me personally to support. A few reasons why:

• The team recognizes that there is no marketing strategy, rn the book is most clear, the distro plan, networking w/ art galleries and other art experts is less clear. We don't need a corporate-grade marketing plan but clear ideas on big bets/events/irl and url means of growing awareness of the book and mission is needed.

• How does the book differ from past Nounish comics and books?

• Are there other ways to leverage the depth/breadth of past Nounish art that already exists and make a focused marketing campaign out to the art world to accomplish the same goals?

• The book focuses on the art, but what about the principles of CC0? This open ethos already helps differentiate Nouns. And other NFT projects have focused on art activations (Sotheby's auctions, gallery series, etc.). Have those produced long-term growth/success for those projects?

Would love to see a more bootstrapped version of this prop with a clearer GTM (sorry, marketing guy) to get the story of Nouns and what has been built to-date in the hands of art curators. An irl product needs a solid irl and url plan to attract new communities to Nouns.

I'm fully sold on the vision and would be keen to vote FOR a version of this prop that is focusing on the initial exploration phase and where the output is released with a CC0 license to further remix and build upon.

same as my signal reason: I have to agree with Frog & jkm on this. Would like to see a smaller proposal and a proof of concept then go for a larger proposal. Also agree that maybe the book on its own is a strong enough deliverable which could help reduce costs a bit.

I have a hard time understanding this proposal, mostly because Nouns are, in my opinion, already fine art.

The proposal states that its purpose is to "initiate meaningful discussions that can help us position the collection's art as a digital fine art collection," but I struggle to see how this translates into actionable steps. Regardless, Nouns isn’t some PFP project that needs to be recontextualized for museums and schools, it’s a revolutionary CC0 set of building blocks that's making an impact at a global level in a variety of novel and interesting ways.

While I appreciate the intention to elevate Nouns, I believe this approach risks undermining what makes Nouns special. We don't need to conform to traditional art world standards to prove our value. Let’s continue to grow and evolve in ways that are true to the spirit of Nouns as a whole.

While it's a good idea, I just don't see it moving any needle for the cost. Would be fan service at best for nouns and full boxes of unmoved books at worst.

Organic exposure through videos and websites is hard to gain as well. Would personally fund something like this at 1/10th the cost.

Though I initially signaled for this, I agree with others that this could start small and be focused on a single thing.

thank you facu for stepping up and proposing. your work over the years is v appreciated. i would be supportive of a version of this as an initial trial before pursuing a full blown book production. maybe showcase what you're dreaming up of at a smaller scale and then go for a bigger ask? either way, thank you!

I really want this book but the rest of the prop feels far too conceptual to make it a "hell yes". Personally, I don't think redefining Nouns as a "digital fine art collection" is something that can be done solely by an individual or a single team but rather a cultural movement over the past and coming years that happens outside of our Nouns/nft bubble from people looking inward from a contemporary art viewpoint.

I do think there is a world where Nounish art can and potentially will become digital fine art but I don't think it will be the Nouns themselves, rather an artist(s) who takes their interpretation of Nouns and creates something new from it.

Also, I'm not entirely sure Nouns are perceived as just a PFP collection in its current form from within the nft bubble.

If this prop was put forward as the creation of an informative Nouns art book, it would be a yes. The rest of it gets away from me though, but not enough so that it's a no.

I like the direction. There might be room to optimize distribution, but ultimately, I trust the team’s passion for the project and believe they’ll create something we can all stand behind.

I would deeply enjoy a nouns art book, but that's because I'm in the ultra niche market of hardcore nouns fans. This reminds me of other props like the noggle ring which was rejected partly because there's not enough appetite outside of nouns and it doesn't make sense to approve such a big spend that's almost entirely going to be enjoyed solely by our own people.

I wish the ask had been made more public in the original candidate and not added so last minute -- I think this could be a cool prop but not at this budget.

These reasons embody my sentiment as well.
I do love all of this, but also think the decoupling the different aspects of this prop would make sense.
I’m a big supporter of nounish books, and def would buy them for me and as gifts.

It's still quite vague what the deliverables would actually be, and that means it would be hard to assess the success of this proposal if it were to pass. Accountability and success metrics might not be so important when the budget is small, but for a 160k, 7-month project, I would expect more clearly defined goals.

Feels more efficient that way and we could end up with more copies in more places, also think that book manufacture prop would be a great cultural landmark onchain (as is this prop) with all the artwork etc so it is worth separating.
