Black Flag Collective has been sustainably retrofunding IRL events for 10 months using treasury yield. In that time we have retrofunded ~$2537 USD to 14 hosts who ran 34 events in 14 worldwide locations for 954 attendees.
This proposal aims to sustainably fund Nounish IRL events by giving Nouns holders the ability to propose and vote on monthly IRL community events. Retrofunding is entirely yield-based, which means no depletion of treasury. To accomplish this, we request 64 ETH from the Nouns treasury to a ⅔ multisig (monkeydlinks.eth, willywonka.eth, indexcard.eth) which will deposit the funds into the Black Flag Collective PoolTogether yield vaults. These funds can be withdrawn at any time. The principal remains untouched, while the yield sustainably funds Nounish gatherings around the world, aligning treasury growth with real-world community building.
In real life (IRL) events aren’t just fun, they’re also culture-building, meme-spreading, DAO catalysts. IRL events allow existing community members a place to share and strengthen their work, and provide an easy, friendly way for new community members to get involved.
Nouners have used the power of IRL events in the past - flagship events like Nouns Town, Hacker House @ ETH Denver, Global PizzaDAO Parties, and more intimate events at Farcon have all had a hand in proliferating the brand.
The downside of big, splashy events like the above is that they cost a lot of money, require a lot of effort, and can be difficult to judge in terms of success. Monthly community-driven events require less time/money, and provide a strong channel for community engagement, including onboarding more Nouners to the community.

Black Flag Collective is a project aimed at fostering IRL connections through sustainable onchain infrastructure. We're a community-run collective that helps bridge the gap between URL and IRL through sustainable funding for real-world meetups — without draining treasuries.
Since launch, we’ve hosted 34 events, empowered 14 different hosts, and brought together 954 attendees across places like Paris, Kyoto, Los Angeles, Toronto, Latvia, Africa, and more — all curated through open Snapshot voting. Black Flag Collective is a project by the BCard Foundation, which also launched the Nounish Debit Card in the US 2024.
We’re requesting a 64 ETH deposit from the Nouns treasury into the Black Flag Collective PoolTogether vaults, managed by a multisig. PoolTogether v5 pools have been audited and running for 2 years with no exploits (audited by Sherlock, Code4rena, and 0xMacro). They are drawing yield from AAVE, a battle-tested and trusted collateralized lending protocol.
Let’s make IRL Nounish vibes inevitable — one meetup at a time.
